Sindragosa Betrayed by "Pathetic" Magic!

Sindragosa

Sindragosa killed very dead on June 3, 2010.

One final obstacle stood between us and the Lich King, the former consort to Malygos and the now leader of the Frostbrood, Sindragosa. Exiting The Crimson Halls we made our final backtrack to Frostwing Halls. Proceeding through the room where we rescued Valithria we reached an elevator that lowered us down to the Queen's platform. As we entered the final antechamber before reaching the Frost Queen the doors slammed shut and we were ambushed by a swarm of nerubians. They were desperate to protect Sindragosa, but even after frost vrykul joined the fray they still could not stop our incursion.

Reaching Sindragosa's platform we slew her Frostbrood whelps and drakes until the airborne Queen noticed our arrival. Enraged, she landed in the center of her platform and began to furiously attack us. Her presence drained what little warmth the room contained and we nearly collapsed due to cold. She would manipulate the frigid air around her to pull us towards her, and begin to channel a nova of blistering cold that we were just barely able to escape in time. Perhaps the worst however was her ability to cause our magic to explode with a powerful backlash that would stagger us whenever we cast spells.

Changing her strategy, Sindragosa would take to the air and rain down a volley of powerful frost magic that would both explode and freeze some of us in solid blocks of ice. After a time she, would land again and renew her melee attacks. As the fight drew on the Sindragosa invoked what arcane magic she could still control from life and increased the power of her elemental attacks. Though fatigued from our many battles within the citadel, we were able to overcome this last act of desperation, and final end Sindragosa's suffering. The Queen Frostbrood had fallen, and all that remained was the King of the Damned.

Free... at last...

Blood-Queen Lana'thel

Gets a Taste of Death!

Blood-Queen Lana'thel

Blood-Queen Lana'thel killed very dead on April 12, 2010.

Having been successful in our rescue of Valithria, we prepared our return to The Crimson Halls as the Ashen Verdecit began to secure the area. Valithria, now in a High Elven guise, urged us to talk to her when we returned as she had vital information involving Sindragosa. We promised her we would speak again and began our trek back. Reaching the room where we killed the blood princes, we began our climb to the Queen's chamber. The few San'layn blocking our way put up a pitiful resistance compared to the horrors we had faced in this place, and it wasn't long before we stood face to face with the Blood Queen.

Lana'thel smiled as we stepped into her chamber, and a wall of shadow erupted behind us, sealing the entrance. A shroud of sorrow and despair emanated from Lana'thel resulting in constant physical pain as we combatted her. After a short ways into the fight she lunged at one of us, biting them, and making them into a vampire. For a period of time that person was able to fight harder and heal their own wounds with their attacks, but at a cost. She began to laugh as her gift of strength dissolved into a frenzied bloodthirst that slowly consumed their mind. To prevent from losing themselves entirely and become her slave, the person bit another one of us, temporarily relieving themselves of the bloodthirst, and granting the gift to another. Knowing this was a great risk, we continued to bite one another, slowly turning her own power against her.

The Queen grew furious as her curse was turned against her. Twice during the fight Lana'thel magically disoriented us as she took to the sky and bombarded us with a volly of bloodbolts. She also turned to summoning clouds of shadows that would consume one of us, and as we ran to escape it, it would dissolve to the floor where shadowy fire would burn for a period of time. Though her stamina was remarkable, she could not withstand our bloodlusted assault, and the former wielder of Quel'Danas fell, and with her our bloodthirst faded.

You have made an... unwise... decision.

Valithria Dreamwalker's Foes Sent to the Big Sleep!

Valithria

Valithria Dreamwalker healed very alive on March 21, 2010.

The Plagueworks were in ruin. Arthas' production of abominations was finally put to an end, and the secrets of the undead plague hopefully died along with all the plague scientists. Our task now switched to snuffing out the last bit of Scourge leadership within the citadel. This meant a return to The Crimson Halls and ending the "reign" of the Blood Queen. As we returned to The Spire and readied ourselves to return to The Crimson Halls, we received work from an Ashen Verdict messenger that the barrier to the Frostwing Halls had be broken, and that a member of the green dragonflight was being held captive in a large antechamber. We were ordered to save the dragon Valithria Dreamwalker before Scourge necromancers had a chance to kill it and resurrect it as a frostwyrm.

Entering the halls we meant up with a regiment of Ashen forces lead by Crok Scourgebane. At the far end of the entrance passage hovered an enormous Val'kyr by the name of Sister Svalna. By the way she taunted Crok as we pushed through the gauntlet of frost Vrykul she and he appeared to be former acquiantances. As we finally reached the Svalna, Crok urged us to down her before she could call for reinforcements. Claiming we brought her her reinforcements she ressurected the fallen Argent Champions behind us. As Crok kept the Val'kyr at bay we painfully slew our previous comrades-in-arms. Without the aid of her reinforcements, Svalna was easily dispatched by us and Crok.

Turning the corner we came to the reanimation chamber. We sprinted in towards Valithria and slew her lich jailors with ease, but unfortunately she had already become to weak too escape on her own. As our healers began to restore her, nearby gates rose and Scourge forces began to rush us to prevent her escape. As we fought abomination, geist, and skeleton, Valithria opened small rifts into the Emerald Dream to strength us. After several minutes of keeping the undead at bay the forces grew numerous to hold back any longer. Just as we were about to be overrun, Valithria stood up and began to channel a torrent of nature magic. All Scourge forces were torn to shreds, and the few that remained fled to safety. We had saved Valithria, and she, in turn saved us.

I am renewed!

Terrible News Everyone, Professor Putricide is Dead!

Professor Putricide

Professor Putricide killed very dead on March 18, 2010.

As Festurgut fell, the gate to his room rose and the blight thinned. There was a sound of both fluid and gas rushing through pipes and then a click; the gate guarding the way to Professor Putricides laboratory had opened. We backtracked down the hall and proceeded up the ramp to the professor's laboratory, but as we neared the top, the clean room doors slammed down in front of us. As we turned to escape the entryway doors snapped shut as well. "You can't come in here all dirty like that! You need that nasty flesh scrubbed off first!", yelled the professor as plagued insects began to emerge from openings in the walls. This silly distraction was nothing more than a minor annoyance and as the last insect was crushed beneath our boot-heels the airlock creaked open.

Tired of these silly games we charged through the professor's lab, crying out as we began our attack. To the professor, this was nothing more than a series of experiments, and he cackled with glee at th chance to test his latest concoctions. As we pressed our attacks, the room's large overheard tanks would drop volatile oozes as well as gas clouds that would chase after us and explode. The professor himself would throw large vials of mutant slime at us that would grow increasingly larger as if alive. Countering this, one of us drank a potion from the professor's lab station, and temporarily mutated into an abomination-like creature capable of harmlessly drinking the slime. Seeing no progress, the professor threw a vial of tear gas into the room, and as we gagged momentarily, he rushed to the table and drank a large potion.

Two tentacle-like arms burst from Putricide's back, and each hastily grabbed a pair of new vials form his lab station. Having fully recovered, we continued our attacks, but the professor had new tricks up his sleeves. Besides his previous attacks, the professor's tentacles dropped down orange exploding potions as well as released bouncing malleable goos that would detonate as they crashed into us. The room became utter chaos as ozzes bounced through the room, gas clouds rushed across the room and exploded, and slime grasped at our heels. However, we stood our ground, and again the professor tear-gassed us and ran for his lab. This time he drank all remaining potions. Immediately the professor mutated into a enormous monstrosity and lunged at us. As the potion wore off our slime drinker, the slime pools quickly began to expand out of control; Putricide had to fall quickly. Avoiding the creeping slime, dropped vials, and bouncing goo, we finally slew the crazy professor just as we ran out of floor room. As if tied to the professor's life, the slime evaporated the moment Putricide fell. The Plagueworks were no more.

Bad news, everyone! I don't think I'm going to make it.

Festergut Passes!

Festergut

Festergut killed very dead on February 8, 2010.

The assault upon The Crimson Halls had begun. With the San'layn forces in disarray due to the loss of their leaders, we retreated to the Upper Spire. Leaving the Ashen Verdict with the task of bringing down the final gate to Frostwing Halls, we returned to The Plagueworks, determined to finish the job.

Returning to The Plagueworks we ventured down the side passageway leading to Festergut's chamber. As we entered the room the gate slammed down behind us, and Professor Putricide, noticing our return, approached his balcony overlooking the room. Seeing a new opportunity to perform another grizzly experiment, the professor twisted open a valve while letting out a long cackle. Almost immediately the room began to fill up with gaseous blight, and we knew we didn't have much time before we would suffocate.

Gasping for breath we mounted our assault on Festergut. Periodically he would inhale the blight, making it easier to breathe, but also strengthening him, making him swing harder. He would also toss concentrated packs of blight at us that would make us vomit uncontrollably for a short period of time. After a final inhale that left the room devoid of blight, Festergut couldn't contain the gas within himself anymore, so coughed up all the gas he had been inhaling. Thankfully the brief period without blight gave us time to clear our lungs and bring about a second wind. With our returned strength we doubled our attack, and like his brother Rotface, Festuregut fell.

Gyah! Uhhh, I not feel so good...

Blood Prince Council
Bites the Big One!

Blood Prince Council

The Blood Prince Council killed very dead on January 21, 2010.

With the first of the two abominations dead, we were half way to unlocking the door to Professor Putricide. As we prepared to head down the opposite hall, towards Festergut, we received word that the Ashen Verdict had brought down the barrier to The Crimson Halls and wanted us to mount an attack on the San'layn forces. For the moment, the professor was safe.

Retreating to the Upper Spire, we turned the corner and entered The Crimson Halls. Protecting the hall was Arthas' elite San'layn, fallen blood elves that had once attempted what we here intended to do today: destroy the Lich King. For a brief moment we wondered if we would share the same fate, becoming slaves to the Scourge, but we immediately put such thoughts behind us. We would not fail. Killing San'layn warriors and magi we at last came across a grand amphitheatre where Blood Queen Lana'thiel stood over our previous handiwork... the corpses of Prince Keleseth, Prince Taldaram, and Prince Valanar.

Spotting our entry, the Blood Queen began to laugh as she took off into the air. "Foolish mortals. You thought us defeated so easily? The San'layn are the Lich King's immortal soldiers! Now you shall face their might combined!" As she took off to the upper balcony, a large orb of blood descended to the corpses of the three Princes. Their bodies stirred with renewed life as they got to their feet. We wasted no time and pushed the attack, and were met with the some of the strongest magic we had yet seen in Icecrown. Taldaram conjured flaming orbs that rained fireballs upon us and shot waves of heat from his fingertips. Prince Keleseth summoned and threw lances of pure shadow as twisted clouds of darkness enveloped us. Prince Valanar formed piercing vortexes, and launched bombs of kinetic energy at us. The battle waged on for what felt like an eternity as fire, shadow, and energy was wielded against us, but when the room fell silent, it was us left standing over their corpses.

My cup runneth over!

Rotface Brokes-ded!

Rotface

Rotface killed very dead on January 14, 2010.

Reentering the citadel, we came across the Upper Spire. Surrounding the spire were three passageways leading to The Plagueworks, The Crimson Hall, and Frostwing Halls. The Ashen Verdict had already managed to take down the shield on The Plagueworks, and as they worked on the barrier for The Crimson Hall, we ventured into The Plagueworks to clear out the horrific experimentations and flesh Golems the infamous Professor Putricide had created.

As was to be expected, The Plagueworks was filled with abominations, flesh giants, and giests. As we fought our way through we made sure to kill every plague scientist we came across, to ensure the knowledge gained from their grizzly experiments would be lost forever. As we neared the end of the works we came across two enormous canine abominations, Stinky and Precious. Though they were more powerful than what we previously fought they were still no match for us. Killing both of them granted us access to Putricide's chamber... or so we hoped. It seemed the doorway was blocked off by two valves guarded by his two most powerful flesh golems, Festergut and Rotface, so we had no choice but to deal with them if we were to stop the professor. Heading down a side passageway we came face to face with the first of the two flesh golems, Rotface.

As we began to fight, Professor Putricide noticed the commotion beneath his laboratory and began to watch. For his own amusement, the professor opened several valves, which in turn began to flood large portions of the room with ooze. Careful to stay out of the pools, we continued our attacks on the abomination, dodging the slime spray he occasionly attempted to spew at us. The diseased monstrosity infected us with some unknown ailment that after a few moments resulted in us coughing up living oozes. The oozes sought out one another, and would congeal into a larger ooze. This reaction, however, was unstable and would commonly result in an explosion of toxic ooze, which in turn showered the room with more slime. Avoiding both ooze and slime we finally felled the first of the professor's "sons" and prepared ourselves for the other horrors The Plagueworks offered.

Terrible news, everyone, Rotface is dead!

Deathbringer Saurfang's Body Claimed!

Deathbringer Saurfang

Deathbringer Saurfang killed very dead on January 6, 2010.

The Skybreaker retreated, leaving nothing between us and the next tier of the citadel. The final battle would now be between the Lich King and the Horde. As Ogrim's Hammer pulled into the Deathbringer's Rise, we returned our rocket packs and disembarked with Overlord Saurfang. As we stepped forward the gate leading into the citadel opened and out emerged an orc... Dranosh Saurfang.

There was a brief moment of silence where both father and son simply looked at one another. Finally Dranosh broke the silence, "Join me, father. Join me and we will crush the world in the name of the Scourge. For the glory of the Lich King!" The Overlord simply shook his head, "My boy died at the Wrathgate. I am here only to collect his body!" Varok explained how he promised to his wife he would venture through the dark portal on his own, and leave his son behind untainted. "Today I fulfill that promise...", and with that Saurfang charged forward towards his son, his Kor'kron shortly behind him. The Deathbringer laughed, and with a raise of his hand, Varok and his men were lifted into the air, limbs dangling as they struggled for breath.
We had seen enough, this was no longer Dranosh; it was Deathbringer Saurfang. We immediately engaged the death knight, doing all we could to free Varok in the process.

The Deathbringer forced blood to violently erupt from our bodies and pierce nearby allies. He also had the ability to boil the blood in our veins, which caused several of us the keel over in pain. The Deathbringer seemed to enjoy this torment, and summoned forth several blood beasts to finish his work. This did little to stop us, so gathering the blood spilt in the room, the Deathbringer summoned runed axes to mimic his attacks. Though he had become quite powerful, the death knight finally succumbed to our attacks, and with his dying breath thanked us for release. Saurfang and his Kor'kron fell to the ground gasping for breath. After recovering, Varok picked up the corpse of his son nodded to us and walked back to Ogrim's Hammer. Meanwhile the gates once again creaked open, granting us access to the Upper Spire...

Honor, young heroes... no matter how dire the battle... Never forsake it!

The Skybreaker Blown
Out of the Sky!

Gunship

The Skybreaker busted up real good on January 5, 2010.

As the elevator reached the Rampart of Skulls it became apparent what the sounds we heard below were. It wasn't the sound of the Ashen Verdict combating the Lich King's forces, but instead the sound of Alliance and Horde forces clashing against each other. Whatever caused the breakdown of our truce was unknown, but we knew our fight had just gotten much harder. We made our way towards where Ogrim's Hammer was docked, aiding what Horde forces we could. A Kor'kron Primalist informed us that The Skybreaker was already on its way to the citadel's upper rises, and was preventing further Horde advancement.

We could see Saurfang's relief as we boarded Ogrim's Hammer. He briefed us on the situation, and encouraged us to equip ourselves with a set of rocket packs in case things became dire. As we began our ascent, The Skybreaker emerged from the distance and cut off our advance. Muradin ordered our retreat or else things would get violent. Our response was a volley from our gunship's cannons. The enemy began to launch mortars our way, and in the confusion summoned a portal on our deck from which Alliance foot soldiers began to emerge.

As we dealt with this new distraction, dodging mortars and rifle shots, Muradin called out for a mage to freeze our cannons solid. With our guns disabled, we donned our newly acquired rocket packs and launched ourselves into the middle of their deck. A few members of the boarding party distracted Muradin as the rest slew the mage. With our cannons back, the boarding party proceeded to eliminate all of the riflemen and mortar teams we could as the cannons once again opened fire on the gunship. Finally the fires grew too numerous on The Skybreaker, and as Muradin ordered the retreat, our boarding party rocketed back safely to Ogrim's Hammer. Deathbringer's Rise was claimed int the name of the Horde.

Lady Deathwhisper Permanently Silenced!

Lady Deathwhisper

Lady Deathwhisper killed very dead on January 4, 2010.

Having secured a foothold at the base of the Frozen Throne, we earned ourselves a brief reprieve. As we stared up at the towering spire of ice that loomed before us, we heard faint whisperings from the far side of the The Spire. As we circled around the Frozen Throne the whispers grew louder and louder, and eventually we could make them out for what they were, the dark preachings of the Cult of the Damned.

Behind the mountain of ice we found the Oratory of the Damned, and within in a gathering of cultists. Leading the dark sermon was Lady Deathwhisper, the Supreme Overseer of the cult. The sermon came to an abrupt halt as the Lich noticed our entry, and ordered the cultists to eliminate us. We were veterans of Northrend; no-named cultists couldn't possibly stop us. As we stood over their remains, we gazed into the frozen eyes of Lady Whisper, our mouths slowly rising into smirks. Silently we mouthed, "You're next".

We ran at the Lich, but with the wave of a bony arm she cowardly conjured a shield of mana to protect her. As we frustrating pummeled away at her protection, swarms of adherents and fanatics poured out of the oratory's alcoves. As we slew each cultist the Lich reanimated them, and they renew their assault. She also empowered attackers who hadn't fallen, grating them increase in strength. Finally the moment came when the shield shattered and reinforcements ceased. With out attacks now focused on Deathwhisper herself, she desperately called out to the spirits of the dead in the room who lunged at us, exploding with a flash of dark energy. With a final swing of our weapons, the Lich was cleaved in two, and evaporated into the air. We stood there covered in blood as the elevator in the back of the room slowly descended, and sounds of clashing weapons from the Rampart of Skulls drifted down to us...

Do you yet grasp the futility of your actions?

Lord Marrowgar Boned!

Marrowgar

Lord Marrowgar killed very dead on December 16, 2009.

We had braved the dark corridors of Naxxramas, ended the Nexus War, halted the return of an Old God, and proved our worth to the Argent Crusade... our adventures in Northrend were nearing its end. All that remained was the final joint assault upon Arthas' stronghold: Icecrown Citadel.

We joined up with Tirion and the Ashen Verdict in one of the citadel's antechambers and prepared for the assault. As we began to push through the citadel's undead guard, the Lich King's rasping voice welcomed us and introduced us to his new captive, Bolvar Fordragon. At that moment we knew immediately that if there was any chance at quelling the current conflict between the Horde and the Alliance, we had to rescue Bolvar. We promised to meet High Overlord Saurfang on the upper levels of the citadel and continued towards the base of the Frozen Throne.

After battling several skeletal colossi, we reached the base... and an enormous winged skeletal construct. We charged towards the monstrosity calling out "FOR THE HORDE!" but its four heads simply laughed. With a wave of its hand bone spikes shot out of the ground and blue flames sprang from his frozen chest. However, we proved not as easily defeated as Lord Marrowgar initially anticipated, so in desperation the construct disassembled himself into a whirling tornado of razor sharp bone. We took cover from this storm, and when Marrowgar tired and reassembled himself, delivered the deathblow. The base of the throne was now ours.

We will wash over this world as a swarm of Death and Destruction!

Anub'arak Exterminated!

Anub'arak

Anub'arak killed very dead on September 7, 2009.

With the Twin Val'kyr defeated, the coliseum erupted with applause. Tirion began to speak of our great bravery, but was immediately interrupted by the appearance of the Lich King. Arthas laughed at our victory, clearly unbothered by the fact he was horribly outnumbered. Finally, when Tirion ordered him to put down his weapon, Arthas agreed, and drove Frostmourne deep into the foundation of the coliseum. At once the floor erupted and we all tumbled down into the forgotten depths of Azol-Nerub. Climbing out of the wreckage we were greeted by none other than Anub'Arak, raised once again by the Lich King in order to punish us for our folly.

Anub'Arak summoned forth fellow undead Nerubians to aid him in battle, and we had no choice but to fight them all at once. We used the frozen earth to our advantage, and combated the Nerubians over patches of permafrost, preventing them from escaping our attacks by submerging underground. After several minutes of trading off fierce blows, the Crypt Lord tunneled underground, and attempted to impale us with his massive horn as he stealthily moved about unseen. In his absence, a flood of Carrion beetles
emerged from the soil, biting out at us and spreading debilitating disease.

When Anub'Arak emerged from the soil again we renewed our attacks, but the he surprised us with yet another new assault. Anub'Arak summoned for a sea of locusts that tore at our flesh and returned to feed and strengthen him. Running out of time, we pressed harder and harder until finally the insect swarm died down, and the Crypt Lord fell to his knees, this time, silenced for good. Tirion emerged from farther down the tunnel and praised us for our resilience, promising us that without a doubt we would be needed in the final attack on Icecrown Citadel.

Twin Val'kyrs Take

Balls To The Face!

Twin Valkyrs

Twin Val'kyrs killed very dead on August 25, 2009.

With the champions of the Alliance defeated, but one final challenge remained before we were granted the titles of Champions of the Crusader's Coliseum. With it came the ability to participate in the final assault on Icecrown. We had bested beast, demon, and knight but our final challenge was the most terrifying: two of Arthas's very own lieutenants, Edyis Darkbane and Fjola Lightbane, the Twin Val'kyr.

The Val'kyr were no slouches when it came to combat, and employed a combination of both holy and shadow magic against us. The two sisters channeled their magic, unleashing powerful vortexes of light and darkness upon us. They even tried creating protective barriers upon one another as they tried to heal what damage we were able to do to them.

Thankfully they were weak to each other's magic and we were able to consecrate Edyis with Fjola's holy light and drown Fjola in Edyis's darkness. The Twin Val'kyr dropped to the ground, but it was not yet time to celebrate...

Faction Champions killed very dead on August 18, 2009.

Our third challenge was to combat a unit of Argent Crusade Knights. However, shortly before our match, Garrosh Hellscream and King Varion Wrynn got into a heated fight that resulted in us facing off against the alliance champions.

Ten champions in total jumped down from the rafters. The group ranged from those who excelled in the ways of the blade, to those who had mastered all forms of magic. Our opponents before us were nothing less than our equal. Combat began immediately, and the coliseum was immediately filled with the sounds of spells zipping through the air as well as the clash of both weapon and shield. The Battle waged on for what seemed an eternity, but when the sounds of combat slowed to an eventual conclusion, only we remained standing.

Lord Jaraxxus Fizzles!

Northrend Beasts

Lord Jaraxxus killed very dead on August 11, 2009.

The second challenge of the coliseum was supposed to be a doomguard summoned forth by the "great" gnome warlock Wilfred Fizzlebang, but when have things ever gone our way? Instead of a doomguard, an Eredar Lord emerged from Fizzlebang's summoning circle. The demon quickly killed the gnome and turned his attention towards us.

Lord Jaraxxus was a master of Fel magic, casting fel fireballs as well as fel lightning upon us. Using this deadly fire magic, he attempted to cook us alive. He also opened portals to the nether, allowing Mistresses of Pain to aid him. He would also summon forth infernal volcanoes from which Felflame Infernals would emerge. The extra demons ended up doing little to help the Man'ari Eredar as he soon met the same fate as his summoner.

Congratulations to all who received loot!

Northrend Beasts
Now Extinct!

Northrend Beasts

Northrend Beasts killed very dead on August 4, 2009.

We stood in the center of the Crusaders' Coliseum. From our left came the cheers and shouts of encouragement from our fellow Horde members, while from the right came the booing of Alliance dogs. We were here to prove ourselves to the great Tirion Fordring so that we would be able to partake in the final assault on Icecrown Citadel.

The first set of encouters were some of the fiercest beasts of the North: Gormok the Impaler, a savage magnataur with snobold allies, the twin Jomungar, Acidmaw and Dreadscale, and the ferocious yeti, Icehowl. Gormok entered the arena first, and although he attacked with a savagery impressive even for a magnataur, he and his bomb throwing bretheren were no match for our combined might. Next the twin Jormungar entered the arena spewing burning bile and paralytic acid at us. Using their own toxins to cleanse one another we managed to defeat both worms. Last, Icehowl entered the ring. The yeti would leap into the air and crash down into the ground, knocking us all back against the walls of the coliseum. There he would charge at us, trying to gore us with his horns. In the end, we were quicker, and the final beast of the coliseum was defeated.

Yogg-Saron Totally Mindfrucked!

Yogg Saron

Yogg-Saron killed very dead on July 20, 2009.

In Ulduar we had bested both flesh, metal, and machine, but the final fight still loomed before us. We stepped into Yogg-Saron's prison chamber to find nothing more than a female Vrykul staring back at us. With our confusion apparent to her, she warned us the time to strike at the Old God of Death was now. Out of nowhere, faceless ones began to appear and rush at us. We brandished our weapons, evoked our spells, and one by one they fell. Upon the death of each was an enormous explosion of dark energy that nearly knocked us back. The keepers who were too weak to aid us directly in combat channeled their magic and increased both the fortitude and strength of our attacks. After a few moments, we realized that the Vrykul was in fact aiding the guardians in the assault, so as the guardian neared death we positioned it nearest Sara.

The explosion of dark energy ripped through her guise, revealing her to be, in fact, the avatar of Yogg-Saron. With his presence discovered, the head of the Old God rose from the pool of saronite in the center of his prison, protected by a shadowy shield. From the ground erupted several tentacles that began to thrash about wildly, and grab onto those nearby. We quickly grouped up and focused our attacks on each tentacle as they emerged, in an attempt to keep us from becoming overwhelmed. Other tentacles emerged that began to channel spells of dark magic upon us. After struggling to keep from being overwhelmed, several portals emerged from around the head of Yogg-Saron, and a branch of our forces leapt through. On the other side, they found themselves in the memories of Yogg-Saron, and assaulted the God's brain.

The assault was a success, and the God cried out as the tentacles stopped emerging, and the shield protecting him vanished. We focused our attacks on the head of the beast, but found that we had to constantly look away from the God, as the mere sight of him felt like an assault on our sanity. From out of the walls poured another swarm of faceless ones intent on protecting their master. We split our forces and pressed our attacks, and the end of the God seemed just within sight. With one final blow the God laughed at our determination, then fell silent. As he slowly sank back into his pool of saronite the remaining faceless ones fled in fear and the room grew silent. For a brief moment the world seemed just a little bit safer...

General Vezax
Dishonorably Discharged!

Vezax

General Vezax killed very dead on June 15, 2009.

The Keepers were all restored, but the halls of Ulduar were not yet silent. We ordered the Keepers to meet us in Yogg-Saron's final chamber and ventured forth... into the Descent into Madness. Somehow, while finishing our exploits in the Spark of Imagination, Twilight Cultist forces appeared and forced their way through the halls of Ulduar and barricaded the way up to their dark master, but we had come too far already to be stopped by the likes of them.

At the end of the cultist barricade stood the Old God's final guardian and his top commander, General Vezax. The creature's dark presence prevented our casters from regenerating their mana, and he hurled volleys of dark energy at us.However, we were able to work around this dark aura by destroying nearby saronite crystals and standing in their toxic clouds. By focusing on the pain brought on by the clouds, we were able to temporarily regenerate our spiritual energies, and with this renewed strength, we doubled our attack and forced the general to his knees. With the general's death the final door to Yogg-Saron's chamber unlocked...

Congratulations to all who received loot!

Your defeat was inevitable!

Mimiron Messed Up!

Mimiron

Mimiron killed mostly dead on June 3, 2009.

Only one final Watcher remained corrupted by the whispers of Yogg-Saron, Keeper Mimiron. Mimiron was a master inventor, responsible for some of the most advanced technology in all of Azeroth, but since being corrupted by the Old God of Death all he created were machines of war. After fighting through several of his servants, we took a tram to the Spark of Imagination, Mimiron's workshop.

Mimiron was more than upset with us for having destroyed both the Flame Leviathan Mk I and the XT-002 Deconstructor, so he decided to use our intrusion to test his latest inventions. He climbed into his new tank, the Flame Leviathan Mk II, and began his attack. Once we had given his tank a beating, he switched to an Anti-personnel Assault Cannon and fired away at us. When Mimiron grew bored of his lack of progress, he climbed aboard his Aerial Combat Unit, a flying assault vehicle in which he rained down balls of plasma, and directed the attacks of summoned mechanical minions. When that too appeared ineffective at haulting our attack, Mimiron revealed his final weapon, the
V-07-TR-0N, a new machine composed out of the remaining pieces of his previous vehicles. We divided our attacks and managed to bring down all three components at the same time. From V-07-TR-0N's wreckage, Mimiron emerged with his mind restored, and eager for the final attack on Yogg-Saron.

Thumbs Down Thorim!

Thorim

Thorim killed mostly dead on May 20, 2009.

Two of the keepers were awaiting word for the final assault on Yogg-Saron, but two still remained. We bid farewell to the the adventurers who aided us in the battle with Hodir, and left for the Clash of Thunder, the grand arena where Thorim entertained himself. Reaching the arena, we found an alliance mercenary group trapped in an endless battle with a jormungar. We charged in and put an end to Thorim's show.

Both Thorim and the arena cried out in outrage as their entertainment lay dead at out feet. As the iron citizens of Ulduar leapt down into the arena, a small group of our forces fought our way up to Thorim. Just as our forces left in the arena were on the verge of being overrun, our other group reached Thorim. The keeper in turn leapt into the arena himself, determined to punish those who ruined his sport. Thorim commanded the power of thunder, and did not hesitate to call down lightning upon us. He was also immensely strong, and a single strike of his hammer would render one of our own unbalanced for several moments. Thorim wanted a grand battle in the arena, and we gave him one. Like Freya and Hodir before him, Thorim too regained control of himself and the battle concluded. More confused than the others, Thorim stumbled off towards the Observation Ring as he tried to clear his head.

Hodir Deep Freezed!

Hodir

Hodir killed mostly dead on May 4, 2009.

With Freya restored to her formal self, we entered the Halls of Winter, Hodir's sanctum. The icey halls were crawling with jormungar, frost giants and icey revenants. When we finally came upon Hodir, we found another expedition of adventurers had met a cruel end, are were left frozen at his feet.

As we attacked the keeper, several of us tried desperately to thaw out the other adventures. Coming to their senses, they immediately began to aid in our assault, less we all meet their previous fate. Simply being in the presence of Hodir, we felt our movement restricted as we were overwhelmed by the biting cold. Icicles rained down shards of ice as sharp as any blade, and Hodir swung his hammer with the force of the northern winds. Just when we thought we would all succumb to the cold, Hodir regained control of himself, and the battle was won. Hodir too apoligized, and left for the Observation Ring, eager for the final controntation with Yogg-Saron.

Freya Felled!

Freya

Freya killed mostly dead on May 3, 2009.

Now that we had the ring under our control, we headed for the Conservatory of Life, the domain of Keeper Freya. We had previously aided Freya's avatar in the Scholozar Basin, and if the avatar's power was any indication of a fraction of her own, we were in for a fight.

Clearing through the conservatory, we challenged several corrupt ancients in order to prevent them from interrupting our battle with the Keeper. With them slain we traveled to the center, where the keeper was silently waiting for us. Freya summoned packs of ancients, lashers, and orchids in an attempt to quickly overwhelm us, but we were prepared. She called upon the aid of her titan creater Eonar who gifted her with trees that healed the wounds of her and her allies, but those we too struck down. When her minions failed to do the job, Freya struck out at us herself, throwing explosive seedlings, but we managed to avoid this new assault. Finally, Freya came to her senses and the battle concluded. The keeper apologized for her behavior and promised to meet us at the Observation Ring.

Congratulations to all who received loot!

"His hold on me dissipates. I can see clearly once more. Thank you heroes."

Auriaya Screams No More!

Auriaya

Auriaya killed very dead on April 30, 2009.

The way to the Observation Ring was now clear, and with it the route to Yogg-Saron's Keepers. As we approached the ring however, we noticed another titan guardian, Auriaya, patrolling its edge with a pack of spirit beasts.

We engaged Auriaya and her pack at the ring's edge, holding close so as not to be overwhelmed by the beasts she commanded. Though both fang and claw were fierce, we slew her companions and focused our assault on her. Auriaya would roar with such ferocity that we were nearly knocked back had we not held our ground so close to one another. Her roars even forced some of us to run off in terror momentarily before coming to our senses. Just we when thought the fight was won, she summoned a spirit beast stronger than the others that, despite our beatings, returned each time for more. This new companion however did little to slow our eventual victory over her.

You waste my time!

Kologarn Calls it a Draw!!

Kologarn

Kologarn killed very dead on April 29, 2009.

With the way to the Archivum clear, Brann and Prospector Loren attempted to determine the status of Yogg-Saron's Keepers. Apparently all four had been thoroughly corrupted by his presence, but massive physical trauma might be able to restore them. Thankfully, we specialized in dishing out massive physical trauma.

Our search now turned to finding and restoring the Keepers Hodir, Thorim, Freya, and Mimiron, all of whom were beyond the Observation Ring, past the Shattered Walkway. Reaching the walkway, a gigantic titan-like being emerged, clearly the guardian of the bridge. Kologarn produced massive shockwaves and focused eyebeams upon us, and when those failed to eliminate us he swept up several of us in the palm of his hand and attempted to crush us to death. We refused to end our expedition there and focused our attacks on his arms, destroying both of them. With his defenses down we focused on what remained of Kologarn, finally shattering his troso, and forming our own walkway to the Observation Ring.

Congratulations to all who received loot!

The Assembly of Iron
Has Adjourned!

Assembly of Iron

The Assembly of Iron killed very dead on April 29, 2009.

With the siege area finally cleared, we entered the inner chambers of Ulduar. Our first goal was to find the Archivum, a Titan console that could give us a better idea of the current state of corruption within Ulduar as well as the status of Yogg-Saron's Keepers.

Proceeding forward, we came across The Assembly of Iron, a council of the heads of Ulduar's iron denizens. There, Steelbreaker was representing the Iron Giants, Runemaster Molgiem the Iron Vrykul, and Stormcaller Brundir the Iron Dwarves. Upon spotting us, the assembly unleashed the powers of iron and thunder in an attempt to prevent us from reaching the Archivum. One by one they fell, first Steelbreaker, then Molgiem, each transferring their powers to their remaining comrades. At last only Brundir remained, but with all the fury and power the three had originally possessed. But, like the others, we struck him down and the chamber holding the Titan console was revealed.

Congratulations to all who received loot!

This meeting of the Assembly of Iron is adjourned!

Ignis Extinguished!!

Ignis the Furnace Master

Ignis the Furnace Master killed very dead on April 29, 2009.

With the teleporter to Ulduar's antechambers now active, only one obstacle remained before we could venture inside: the fire giant spotted in the Colossal Forge. The giant seemed to be mass producing iron constructs, and we couldn't risk a counterattack by them on our expedition and Kirin Tor allies while we ventured inside.

The giant was a master of flame, and could produces fiery jets from both the floor and from his hands. He also attempted to cook us alive within the molten cauldron he wore around his waist. Despite his frightening power and the aid of his nearby constructs, we toppled the giant, and successfully secured the siege area of Ulduar.

Deconstructor Deconstructed!

XT-002 Deconstructor

XT-002 Deconstructor killed very dead on April 23, 2009.

Ignoring Brann's warnings of the nearby fire giant, we decided to first deal with the mechanical construct in the Scrapyard. The construct was another creation of Keeper Mimiron's, the XT-002 Deconstructor, and he alone guarded the teleporter to the antechambers of Ulduar.

Despite the constructs' enormous size, its personality was that of a small child's. The Deconstructor attempted to force us into the role of its toys, but we "politely" refused. The construct threw earthquaking tantrum's and summoned other robotic "toys", but we held our ground and eventually the Deconstructor fell.

Razorscale Grounded
for Good!

Razorscale

Razorscale killed very dead on April 19, 2009.

With the Formation Grounds cleared, all that remained guarding the inner passageways of Ulduar was a gigantic mechanical construct. However Brann's forces had spotted a massive plated proto-drake as well as a fire giant nearby, and fearful of retaliation from either while we ventured further inside, Brann suggested we deal with them first.

Reaching Razorscale's Aerie, we found expedition troops setting up several harpoon guns in an attempt to ground the drake. Sadly, we recognized the dragon as what once was Veranus, Thorim's mount and companion. Regardless of that realization and despite a series of sudden iron dwarf assaults, we launched the harpoons and managed to ground the dragon. Once grounded, we put the beast down and continued onward to the Scrapyard.

Congratulations to all who received loot!

Move! Quickly! She won't remain grounded for... nevermind...

Flame Leviathan BSODed!

Flame Leviathan

Flame Leviathan killed very dead on April 14, 2009.

Having neutralized Naxxramas, Arthas' floating bastion of undeath, and eliminating his Majordomo Kel'thuzad, we set our sights on a new threat: the Old God of Death, Yogg-Saron. The beast had broken free of his bonding in Ulduar and was responsible for corrupting not only members of the mortal races, but even the constructs and keepers of the Titans created to watch over him.

We entered the Formation Grounds and were greeted by Brann and his expeditionary forces who had just finished repairs on some salvaged siege equipment. We ordered Brann to have the Kirin Tor remove the magical barrier protecting us, seated up, and proceeded to disable Ulduar's Orbital defense systems. Just when we reached the end of the grounds we were faced with a tank of immense proportions: Mimiron's Flame Leviathan. Readjusting our attacks we assaulted this new foe, attacking from both our siege machines as well as from the top of the tank itself. Under the pressure of our assault the tank fell, and Brann and his forces moved camp to the site of our victory.

Congratulations to all who received loot!
